Satin Banshee: Forging a New Path in Rock and Roll
Published on TRK TLNT
The Journey from Blues Rock Beginnings to Heavy Garage Death Glam
For Satin Banshee frontman Jordan, the dream of being in a band started young. Inspired by the mystique of live performance, he taught himself to play multiple instruments and formed his first band, Armadillo, in high school. The blues-rock group played talent shows and local gigs, igniting Jordan’s passion for the stage.
When Armadillo disbanded, Jordan saw it as an opportunity to explore a broader musical vision. Satin Banshee emerged from these ashes, breaking free from traditional blues and rock conventions to craft a sound that reflected his diverse taste in music.
What Is Heavy Garage Death Glam?
While Satin Banshee falls under the broader rock and alternative umbrella, the band has coined its unique sound as heavy garage death glam. This label, created in the band’s early days, perfectly captures their genre-blending music. Drawing influence from iconic bands like Queens of the Stone Age, The Hellacopters, and The New York Dolls, Satin Banshee also incorporates the stoner and doom rock vibes of acts like Red Fang, Fu Manchu, and Nebula.
Their music thrives on contrasts, pairing upbeat melodies with dark, introspective lyrics. This balance gives their songs a depth that resonates with fans of both energetic and contemplative rock music.
2023: The Real Beginning of Satin Banshee
Although Satin Banshee officially formed in 2018, the band found its stride in 2023. With Jordan on vocals and guitar, Jack on drums, and Aaron on bass, the trio began to see their potential. By March, they had opened for Nebula, one of Jordan’s favorite bands, and were performing regularly at respected venues.
December 2023 marked the release of their debut album, A Town Called Doom, which received glowing reviews from platforms like Weedian, Screaming from the Heavy Underground, and El Gordo Metelaro. February 2024 brought another milestone: a sold-out performance at Chicago Psych Fest. Despite a snowstorm packing the venue well beyond capacity, Satin Banshee delivered what Jordan describes as one of their best sets ever.
New Additions and Evolving Sound
2024 also saw the band expand its lineup. Rob, known for his work with Dead Feathers and Plastic Crimewave Syndicate, joined Satin Banshee on bass, while Aaron transitioned to synth and second guitar. This evolution has added new layers to their already dynamic sound, allowing the band to push boundaries even further.
Looking Ahead: Touring and New Music in 2025
Satin Banshee has no plans to slow down in 2025. The band is preparing for a California tour to connect with friends and fans on the West Coast. They’re also gearing up to release a new EP, promising fresh tracks that will showcase the next chapter of their musical journey.
With their genre-defying sound and relentless drive, Satin Banshee continues to carve out their place in the rock scene, proving that heavy garage death glam is here to stay.
